New Moon, Mercury Retrograde, Chodesh Sivan and The Red Sea

The New Moon at 26, almost 27 degrees Taurus invites Gevurah Sh’b’Malchut to draw upon the Fixed Earth (“Establishing Manifestation”) energy to put down roots in our hearts and our lives. It's a short-lived New Moon though, as early Monday morning the Moon moves into Gemini, the “Mazal” (Zodiac Sign) ruled by Chodesh Sivan – and indeed Rosh Chodesh Sivan begins Monday night, Tiferet Sh’b’Malchut, when the potentiality for beauty and balance of divine manifestation is not only possible but an actual energetic imperative. 

Mercury, ruling Planet of Gemini and associated with the newborn Month of Sivan, turns Retrograde Monday night / Tuesday morning. This Mercury Retrograde will last through June 11th, and its shadow return period won’t be over until June 26th. During this Mercury Retrograde, Mercury will “move backwards” from 13 Gemini to Zero Gemini. It was last in Zero Gemini on April 10th/11th – the festival of Shvi’i Shel Pesach, the 7th Day of Chol haMoed Pesach, the commemoration of the parting of the Red Sea, and the Sefirot haOmer of Malchut Sh’b’Chessed – the manifestation of pure loving-kindness!  

It’s as if this Mercury Retrograde period is going to take us backwards from Tiferet Sh’b’Malchut to Malchut Sh’b’Chessed, the crossing of the Red Sea, to re-learn those lessons all over again in a whole new way. It will be important to remember that this is the work and this is the goal in the weeks ahead.
